Books in 2024

Although I am one day behind on my yearly recap, I think it is an improvement from last year when I was two days behind! I think my favourite quote this year was from “Intermezzo” by Sally Rooney:

“I feel like if I created a new human being out of nothing, I would be very happy with them. Just that they were alive even. You know, that’s my dad’s attitude. Or it was. He was always happy with us.”

It pretty much sums up my parenting strategy and I feel something warm and sweet about this quote.

Finally, here comes the list of books that I read in 2024. I marked the books that I liked the most in bold:

  1. “Intermezzo” by Sally Rooney
  2. “A Very English Murder” by Verity Bright
  3. “The Silence In Between” by Josie Ferguson
  4. “The Lost Bookshop” by Evie Woods
  5. “We Solve Murders” by Richard Osman
  6. “The Unbearable Lightness Of Being” By Milan Kundera
  7. “Unfiltered” by Lilly Collins
  8. “A Tree Grows In Brooklyn” by Betty Smith
  9. “The House In The Cerulean Sea” by TJ Klune
  10. “The Last Devil to Die” by Richard Osman
  11. “The Thursday Murder Club” by Richard Osman
  12. “The Man Who Died Twice” by Richard Osman
  13. “The Bullet That Missed” by Richard Osman
  14. “Notes of a Pug-nosed Mephistopheles” by Volodymyr Vynnychenko
  15. “Emily Wilde’s Map Of The Otherlands” by Heather Fawcett
  16. “The Secret History” by Donna Tartt
  17. “Mrs Van Gogh” by Caroline Cauchi
  18. “Daisy Jones and The Six” by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Looking through the list now, I see that I like a good English murder story and I think Richard Osman was on the top of my list last year. I also read some Ukrainian books but not much non-fiction. I feel like my brain was on constant overload in the last year so I did not read anything too demanding. I also read mostly on planes.

I hope to have more time this year for relaxing reading. Also, I hope to read even more Ukrainian books. I feel like it will make me happy. Another goal is finally to be able to start a recap without saying that I am late with my review.

Anyhow, off to some new reading adventures.
