As usual – my yearly book recap is here. I set a goal to read 30 books in 2023 and I got through 18. I also read a couple of books related to work but I am not really counting those in the list here. I started the year strong by being ahead of the curve but my work got really demanding in the second part of the year so I slowed down my reading significantly. I am looking forward to gaining back some reading time in 2024,
I mostly read fiction and biographies with my favorite book being “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It is a great work about someone who is not ashamed of being themselves and is always honest with themselves. My favorite quote this year also comes from this book:
“People think that intimacy is about sex. But intimacy is about truth. When you realize you can tell someone your truth, when you can show yourself to them, when you stand in front of them bare and their response is “You are safe with me” – that is intimacy”.
With that said, here is a list of all the books that I read with the ones that I liked the most highlighted in bold:
- “This Time Tomorrow” by Emma Staub
- “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari” by Robin Sharma
- “Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries” by Heather Fawcett
- “The Song Of Achilles” by Madeleine Miller
- “Another Country” by James Baldwin
- “The Elegance of The Hedgehog” by Muriel Barbery
- “The Comfort Book” by Matt Haig
- “When The Body Says No” by Gabor Mate
- “Alone With You In The Ether” by Olivie Blake
- “Spare” by Prince Harry
- “To Sir Philip, With Love” by Julia Quinn
- “Beyond The Wand” by Tom Felton
- “Maame” by Jessia George
- “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” by Taylor Jenkins Reid
- “The Diary of a Young Girl” by Anne Frank
- “Circe” by Madeline Miller
- “The Red Notebook” by Antoine Laurain
- “There is Nothing For You Here” by Fiona Hill
That’s it for 2023! I have set 30 books to read as my goal for 2024 – let’s see if I can make it. Fun reading!
Also Happy Birthday to Matt! Thanks for inspiring us all to be better.
