A yearly book review post is probably one of my favorite posts to make. I like looking back at my reading journey during the year and seeing what crossed my reading shelf. I think reading is one of the best activities for the brain, for focus, for concentration, for general knowledge and also just for fun.
My yearly goal for reading this year was 30 books – that is the ambitious number that I added for myself on Goodreads. I knew that I was not likely to get through this amount with a small child, work, and all the extra stuff happening but I found it motivating to have a high goal. I ended up the year with 20 books in total which I think is not that bad at all and definitely higher than in previous years (my sabbatical was a great contributor there). If I had to pick my favourite non-fiction book, it would be the autobiography of Elton John called “Me” and for fiction, I would say that it was “Midnight Library” by Matt Haig. Here is the list of all books that I read in 2022 with those that I liked the most indicated in bold:
- “The Marriage of Opposites” by Alice Hoffman
- “The Highland Fling” by Meghan Quinn
- “Of Human Bondage” by William Shaomerset Maughan
